Food & Company combine the love of cooking with the scenic surroundings of the Lake District, capturing the essence of fine Cumbrian food with friends.

The one day cookery courses are held from early Spring to late Autumn in the Garden Hall, a converted 16th Century barn, in the grounds of Mirehouse near Keswick.

Courses cover different topics using seasonal local produce wherever possible. There are plenty of opportunities to sample and taste the dishes prepared during our informative and practical demonstration. Our aims are to build confidence for beginners and widen the knowledge for the more experienced cook.

A day course is a wonderful experience for food lovers, bringing you a fabulous journey through workshops, with real down to earth, unpretentious, practical recipes and ideas. A chance to take time out with family or friends and enjoy a culinary pamper day.

Each course ends with an opportunity to relax with an aperitif and enjoy the atmosphere with new friends over a freshly prepared, buffet lunch. An ideal holiday experience!

Our venue is the Garden Hall set in the grounds of Mirehouse by Bassenthwaite Lake near Keswick. The demonstration room is light and airy, very relaxed and comfortable and opens onto a sheltered Victorian verandah.

Mirehouse has a spectacular setting between Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake and is still a living family home. The house and this valley has has strong links with poets Tennyson, Wordsworth and Southey and has been a source of inspiration to artists since Constable, Girtin and Turner visited over 200 years ago.

Mirehouse is four miles from Keswick, Cumbria. Turn into Mirehouse grounds from A591, traveling North turn left, traveling South turn right - (opposite the sawmill tearooms). When in the grounds follow the Food & Company signs, turning left down the back drive. A dedicated parking area is found after a sharp left, turn at the end of the drive. Entrance to Food & Company is through the arched doorway. The postcode is CA12 4QE, see you there!
