The Black Lion pub is situated in the centre of Ireby village, at the main crossroads.
We're just 7 miles from Caldbeck and 5 miles from Bassenthwaite, in the Northern Fells of the Lake District.
The Black Lion Community Group:
The Black Lion Community Group, came into being in 2023 to raise funds to buy and run the Black Lion pub in Ireby for the local community.
A comprehensive local survey revealed overwhelming support for our project.
We want the Black Lion to be run as a community pub / village social hub.
Plans include a café, meeting place, local produce sales, and an arts and entertainment venue in association with the Globe Hall, and to provide opportunity for employment and training.
The Black Lion Community Group is a Community Benefit Society and is be owned by the members, who are shareholders.
To be able to purchase the Black Lion we need a total share pledge of £165,000. You can help us by investing as little as £50 in our share scheme.
